Who we are
 Marie-Paule Van De Pitte Bruges 04/04/1954 Following an occupational training in a Bruges school, I went on working as an attendant with deaf children for about 6 years. This line of work allowed me to fully explore my creativity. I would never have considered opening up my own shop myself, if this had not been My husband Rudy's dream. I was taught how to do needlework on my grandmother's lap so to speak. Moreover, my mother was an haute couture dressmaker and stylist. Need I say more when it comes to where I got my sense of creativity? In that sense, going for fancy needlework was a pretty evident choice. After 30 years in a sector where service is paramount, we have managed to build up an international clientele of well over 14.000 customers. We are currently advertising in both Dutch and French journals and magazines, and we are able to advise our customers in 4 languages. Tip: when visiting the shop, do not forget to pop up to have a look on our gallery located on the first floor. Rudy Van Beveren Watervliet 18/08/1949 I was born into a working class family. As such, I was not exactly destined to become self-employed. For 10 years, I worked for the local authorities. After a while, it became very clear to me that this was not what I expected from a job. So Marie-Paule and I took the plunge and we decided to set up our own shop! 1 April 1979 (no joke) announced the official launch of our new shop: the " 't Handwerkhuisje" (litterally "The Little Handy workers' House"). "'t Handwerkhuisje" was very small: 4 by 6 meters shop. We could not have been more naïve! Two years later, we made our first reconstruction. In 1983, we bought the premises. In 1986, the shop was extended somewhat and, in 1993 the first floor was furbished as an additional showroom. 1 July 1998: we took over a needlecraft shop in Bruges called Orchidee.
